The Atmospheric Gas Testing Refresher course has been created to re-confirm your knowledge of all safety and practical aspects of gas testing atmospheres in confined spaces. This course will also allow you to regain a sound understanding of all requirements which apply to the job.
Topics covered in this course include:
An introduction to the importance of gas testing in confined spaces;
Identification of potential sources of atmospheric contaminants at different sites;
Common toxic, flammable and asphyxiant contaminants;
Different types of testing equipment and protocols which may be followed when carrying out atmospheric testing;
Inspection and calibration of testing equipment and associated gear;
Safe practices for testing the work area and interpreting test results (including explanations of explosive limits, exposure standards and other terminology relating to concentration limitations);
Common hazard management measures, including lock-out procedures, atmospheric purging and use of breathing apparatus;
Care and maintenance of safety equipment;
Carrying out and finalising work safely when in confined spaces, including reporting and documentation requirements.
This course is based on the national competency standards accredited by the state and national training authorities.
All components of this course are delivered 100% online.
Who should complete this training?
This training is appropriate for workers who already hold a Gas Test Atmospheres qualification, and are seeking to update their training.
You must hold an existing Gas Test Atmospheres licence, ticket or statement of attainment to complete this training. Your qualification must be no more than 9 years old. You will be required to provide a copy of your qualification in order to successfully complete this course and receive your certification.

An online practical self-assessment to test each student’s capability of carrying our practical tasks relating to gas testing.
All components of this course are 100% online – no face-to-face practical training component is required.
