This blended training involves a face-to-face practical assessment which is held at our training facility in Tullamarine, VIC, or may be held at other suitable workplaces in Victoria or Tasmania by arrangement.

Your qualification will be recognised across Australia, as our training is based on the competency standards accredited by the state and national Training Authorities. Once you have successfully completed this course, you’ll be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment to keep with you for the future.

We’ve created a detailed 100% online Learners Guide which includes the requirements of the Australian Standards, Codes of Practice, and the various state regulations for safely entering confined spaces and carrying out atmospheric testing (you can use this resource during your assessments too). Hazard identification and risk analysis are core components of the course and comply with the statutory requirements.

The learning outcomes for this training are as follows:

  • Update knowledge of industry regulations, codes of practice, and standards
  • Identify confined spaces.
  • Identify hazards and risk factors, including identification of possible atmospheric contamination sources.
  • Determine the degree of risk
  • Understand the common flammable, toxic and asphyxiant atmospheric contaminants found in industrial settings.
  • Understand the equipment and protocols used to carry out atmospheric testing.
  • Understand and interpret atmospheric testing results to identify flammable or harmful atmospheres.
  • Understand isolation, lock-out and ventilation procedures, and other common atmospheric control measures.
  • Understand and adhere to permit systems and job roles for confined space entry, gas testing personnel and standby personnel.
  • Understand and adhere to emergency rescue planning.
  • Care for and maintain plant, testing equipment and associated gear.
  • Carry out reporting and record-keeping requirements.

There are no pre-requisites applicable to this course.

This qualification course is offered as blended training which includes an online theory component and a face-to-face practical assessment.

This course includes:

  • A comprehensive online Learners Guide which covers all theoretical information for this course (6 modules, approximately 2 hours)
  • An online theory assessment (approximately 45 minutes)
  • Onsite Practical Assessment – 1 hour

IMPORTANT: this course includes an on-site practical assessment from a registered WorkSafe Assessor which must be completed within 60 days of enrolment. The practical component is held at our training facility at 15 Barrie Rd, Tullamarine VIC, or at other suitable workplaces within Victoria or Tasmania by arrangement (this option may result in additional fees due to travel-related costs). Once you have successfully completed your assessments and been deemed competent by an accredited Assessor, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment from an Australian RTO. This certificate can be used across Australia to demonstrate your current knowledge and understanding of Confined Space Entry and Gas Testing.

Your formal Statement of Attainment will be sent to you within 30 days.
